Our Vision

By the time they leave Year 11, our students will be able to make informed decisions regarding their own health (including sexual health) and personal well-being whilst having regard for the well-being and rights of others.

The programme of study for PSHE covers Years 7 to 11 and is based on three core themes drawn from PSHE Association Programme of Study:

  1. Health and Wellbeing
  2. Relationships
  3. Living in the Wider World

The programme is designed to meet the needs of our students and fulfil the OfE Statutory Guidance for Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education. Our curriculum is based around enquiry questions and topics which feed into them

Year 7 Programme

  • Enquiry question one: What makes me unique? 
  • Enquiry question two: What are positive relationships? 
  • Enquiry question three: How fair is our world – and what can we do to make it fairer? 
  • Enquiry question four: How do I stay healthy? 
  • Enquiry question five: How do I stay safe? 
  • Enquiry question six: Can young people really make a difference in democracy? 

Year 8 Programme

  • Enquiry question one: Why do we need laws – and how does the justice system work? 
  • Enquiry question two: How can I stay safe – and help others stay safe too? 
  • Enquiry question three: How can I make informed choices about my health and safety?  
  • Enquiry question four: How can I become the best version of myself when working with others? 
  • Enquiry question five: How do I stay safe? 
  • Enquiry question six: How does money affect my life now and in the future? 

Year 9 Programme

  • Enquiry question one: How do I navigate the news and digital world safely 
  • Enquiry question two: What does a healthy relationship look like? 
  • Enquiry question three: How do people make decisions about sex and health 
  • Enquiry question four: What power do I have as a citizen? 
  • Enquiry question five: How are people’s identities and rights protected? 
  • Enquiry question six: How can I care for my mental wellbeing and others? 

Year 10 Programme

  • Enquiry question two: What rights do I have – and how can they be balanced? 
  • Enquiry question three: How do people make decisions about sex and health 
  • Enquiry question four: How can I prepare to manage money in adult life?

Year 11 Programme
